EA brings Madden to Revolution

taken from: Gamespot

EA Canada QB details popular pigskin franchise's debut for Nintendo's new console; with new controller, popular football series won't be just about pushing buttons. Exec says EA Rev games won't be straight ports.

Electronic Arts hasn't unveiled its full lineup of games for next month's Electronic Entertainment Expo yet, but one title that the publisher has confirmed will make its debut at the show in playable demo form is that of it flagship franchise on a new console. The ever-popular Madden franchise gets the call for Nintendo's next-gen console and is tentatively titled Madden Revolution. It's important to note that the game isn't simply titled Madden NFL 2007 for the Revolution--that's because no gamer has seen a Madden quite like this one.

For the first time in years, development on a major console version of EA's marquee franchise football series is being taken outside the doors of the company's Orlando, Florida-based EA Tiburon studio. The game is instead being handled north of the border, by a special Revolution-focused development group within EA's Burnaby, British Columbia studio.

Given that EA has dedicated a specific group to Revolution development, it stands to reason that the game will take advantage of the console's unique capabilities. While many details will have to wait until E3 kicks off, GameSpot was given an advanced scouting report that said that the gameplay will make extensive use of the Revolution controller's motion-sensing capabilities.

Players will hike the ball by mimicking a quarterback receiving the ball from the center, and then pass it to a receiver by making a throwing gesture with the free-hand controller. The faster the passing motion, the more of a bullet pass it becomes (in previous Madden editions, bullet passes were made by holding the passing button down longer).

Kicking the ball will be accomplished by sweeping the controller up as if it were a kicker's leg striking the ball. A fast, level swing will make for a hard, straight kick.

The Revolution controller will also come into play when running the ball, as jerking the controller left or right will make the ball-carrier juke to either side, while shoving it straight ahead will make him stiff-arm the opposition.

Nintendo Revolution becomes Wii?

"Introducing … Wii.

As in “we.”

While the code-name “Revolution” expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer.

Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else.

Wii will put people more in touch with their games … and each other. But you’re probably asking: What does the name mean?

Wii sounds like “we,” which emphasizes this console is for everyone.

Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.

Wii has a distinctive “ii” spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people gathering to play.

And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of video games that sets it apart from the crowd.

So that’s Wii. But now Nintendo needs you.

Because, it’s really not about you or me.

It’s about Wii.

And together, Wii will change everything."

WE... WTF!?!

Finally Back...

First post since being in Southfield, MI. First off, I would like to say this Credit Acceptance is a GREAT program and I cannot wait to start it up.

Next... It was nice to see my wife. I have not seen her in a while and I really missed her a lot. I just wanted to be close to her. Time to catch up on my DVR.

Eight Hours Later...

After a long and boring drive to Southfield, MI, I am FINALLY here. It took FOREVER! I did have a lot of things to listen. I listened to 4 wrestling podcasts, TWiT, diggnation, and more. So far this hotel is not worth 200 a night, but we are only paying $89.

Stupid Eastern Standard Time...

I am really lonely. It is the first time I am REALLY far away from Heather. You never know how much you love having something until it is gone.

Off to Detroit, MI [Southfield actually]

Well it is coming tomorrow. I am taking the long drive to Southfield, MI. I guess it is taking 7-8 hours to drive there. I will be using my 7 day trial of TomTom. I hopefully will have a link up here so my friends came track my way there. I got tons of things to listen to and jam to. This should be a great trip!

Happy Easter!!! and more

Happy Easter!!!

Last night Heather and I went to the Schoutteet's for Mary's 50th birthday!!! I ended up talking to Mike, Aaron, and Charlie. We bs'ed for an hour or two and then the three left. Brian and I thought about going to see BJ's new band. Around 12am, Brian and I went to the Eagle's Club.

When we got there my cousin Christopher was there. I have not seen him in 4 or 5 years. I could not believe he was 21 already. It seems like yesterday he was a little kid. LOL! I ran into Tommy and talked to him for a while. It would be nice to have Paradigm back. We talked about drums and then went in to see BJ play. Crop Circle is the band BJ is in now. They rocked the house and I got a phone and needed to leave.

Brian and I headed back to his parents' place. I got Heather and her and I left. Aaron calls me and he needs a ride... Ok... We get there and he said he broke his glasses. DUMBASS!!! I took his glasses and my mother-in-law fixed them today. He is VERY lucky I know someone who knows glasses.

The next day we meet up at Wanee farm. I guess Gpa yelled at Chris for being drunk... Ok whatever... He is of age... I guess he... Whatever... His big brother came over and yelled at him for getting drunk. In a way, I would like to explain to him about what happened, but it is not my business. I mean the kid has not drank anything in a long time and just wanted to be around 'normal' people. But, if you are old enough to die for our country, you are old enough to have a beer or two. Only thing I would have changed is making him go home when we did. He would have been ok and no one would have known about him drinking.

All in all it was an interesting time in Kewanee. I need a beer...

World of Warcraft BANS accounts?

taken from: World of Warcraft Main Site (forums)

In keeping with Blizzard’s aggressive stance against cheating in World of Warcraft, we have since patch 1.10 banned over 5400 accounts and suspended 10700 more for participating in activities that violate the game’s Terms of Use, including using third-party programs to farm gold and items. Such actions can severely impact the economy of a realm and the overall game enjoyment for all players.

We will continue to aggressively monitor all World of Warcraft realms in order to protect the service and its players from the harmful effects of cheating. Please note that selling World of Warcraft content, such as gold, items, and characters, can result in a permanent ban of the involved accounts from World of Warcraft.

Many account closures come as the direct result of tips reported to our GMs in game or emailed to hacks@blizzard.com by legitimate World of Warcraft players. If you suspect that a World of Warcraft player is using an illegal third-party program to farm gold or items, or is otherwise violating our Terms of Use, please report the suspected infraction via one of the means listed above. All reports will be investigated, and those that prove false will not result in corrective action.

Thank you for your continued support, and good luck with your adventures in Azeroth!

Best Free RPG?

taken from: Free Software Magazine dot com

The Battle for Wesnoth is a free software online game that can be learnt efficiently offline. The game is graphical and role based. There are two versions (at the time of writing) that you may download. The first is stable, version 1.02 and the second is somewhat less stable, but has a few more features that are being put through a test phase. For practice the stable version is the best to start with. Depending on your operating system, there are different ways of installing the game. For Windows, download the installer and just run. In a few seconds everything is working.

The tutorial, the top most button, is an excellent starting point. Once in the tutorial, you will find yourself guided through a basic scenario, by the computer controlled character named Delfador. Delfador sets you a series of minor tasks that quickly build up the skills you need to flawlessly interact with the game arena. My son required no supervision to use the tutorial and, despite an inherent lack of patience common to his generation, he managed to master the basics of the game in less than ten minutes. Whenever he made a mistake that made a scenario impossible to fulfil he was sent back a couple of turns in the tutorial. This method proved to be a highly effective means of communicating tactics.

Violent Games Make Young Men Smoke Pot

taken from Pro-G

The study, carried out by Dr Brady and Professor Karen Matthews at the University of Pittsburgh, involved a group of 100 male undergraduates aged 18 to 21, asked to play either Grand Theft Auto III or The Simpsons: Hit and Run. In GTA the player took the role of a criminal and was instructed by the Mafia to beat up a drug dealer with a baseball bat. In The Simpsons: Hit and Run the player took on the role of Homer Simpson attempting to get his daughter's science project to school before it can be marked late.

The study claims that the men who have just played a violent game (GTA) are more likely to see others' attitudes towards them as hostile, smoke marijuana, and drink alcohol.

"Parents have been told the message that violent video games and violent media in general can influence the likelihood that their kids will be aggressive," Dr. Sonya S. Brady told Reuters Health. "What this study suggests is that they might increase any type of risk-taking behaviour."

According to the report in the Archives of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, playing a violent game caused young men's blood pressure to increase, and appeared to have a greater effect on those that came from violent homes or communities. No matter what background each male had, the researchers found that playing a violent game made the young men in the study less cooperative and more competitive in completing tasks with another person.

After playing one of the games, the males participating in the study were shown a scenario of a teacher telling his class that he suspects some students have cheated, but also that he is proud of those who did well. The teacher then asks a boy called Billy to stay behind after class so that he may speak with him. Participants were then asked to put themselves in Billy's position. When asked how likely it was that the teacher was going to accuse them of cheating, those participants who had been playing Grand Theft Auto were more likely think they would be accused.

The report is also one of the first to link violent games to behaviour other than violence, but will no doubt provide more ammunition to those against violent video games.

Video gamers are all potheads? Huh... Ok... I know people who love these games and they do not smoke pot.

Red Steel (Nintendo Revolution)

taken from Revolution Fan Boy

Some shots from the May issue of Game Informer have found their way onto the internet, ready for us to awkwardly gawk at them and marvel at the Revolution game they spectacularly reveal. Developed by Ubisoft and packed with explosive gunplay (and swordplay), Red Steel looks set to take full advantage of the Revmote, albeit in an unsurprising way. After all, it doesn't require much thought to make the connection between pointing a remote and pointing a gun. I look forward to Jack Thompson quoting that sentence soon.

On the obvious matter of graphics, it seems like the Revolution can produce some very capable images, at least if one assumes that these aren't concept renders and are actually running off an official development kit. It's impossible to make out any of the text, barring the note on the bottom right which points out that your in-game character will tilt his gun as you tilt the controller. I suspect this also means that you can easily bash people in the face with the butt of your gun by performing a swift arm motion. And really, isn't bashing people in the face what the Revolution is all about?

I am REALLY looking foward to the Revolution.

Nothing Special Today

Nothing really special today. I decided to work really hard on my podcasts I do. I have 4 different ones right now, but I have only released the fantasy sports podcast. I have been having issues with Audition 2.0 and I cannot get my microphone to work properly. I am shooting for a Friday release on the other 3 podcasts. I think I do it for fun. It makes me feel important.

Computers... Why are they easy for some...

Why are computers easy to one person and difficult to the next? My sister-in-law had a problem with her computer. I knew the easiest way to fix the problem was to restore the user settings. It took me 15-20 minutes. If I explained what to do over the phone, it would have taken an hour or more.

How come I understand how to fix problems on the pc? I really am not 100% sure why. All I know is I need to help those who do not.

WWE Smackdown! in Peoria, IL

Last night Aaron, Aaron's Friend, Dave, Doug, Mike, and I went to see WWE Smackdown! in Peoria, IL. We got there about 30 minutes early and made fun of everyone and everything there. I feel bad to the people in front of us... We tried to piss everyone off around us. The best part was the people behind us started helping us start chants. When people started chanting "Eddie", we chanted "Chavo". We also yelled, "you got to hook the leg!". I remember dropping a couple of f bombs and this lady looking back at me... WTF? It is a WRESTLING SHOW! They say and do worse things. If you are a parent, PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR KID TO A WRESTLING SHOW!!! YOU ARE A BAD PARENT IF YOU DO!!! I swear the wrestling crowd in getting worse.

Hurricane and Lance Storm = Natural Disasters 2
Finishers = Tsunami (Vertebreaker) and Katrina (Superkick)

Wrestlemania 22

The good; the Bad; the Ugly.

Last night I had Aaron, Mike, Doug, and Dave come over to watch WWE Wrestlemania 22. The show was very good. I was very happy with the outcome. Who would have thought the show would have been good? I think everyone liked the show. I just wish Brian could have made the trip.

We ended up playing NHL 2003 until 3am. I felt bad for Doug... He had to work in Peoria @ 9am... I doubt he got any sleep.

Google Adsense?

I guess I am cheating google adsense out of money... I have made $119.68 in 9 months... WTF??? Here is the email I was sent:

From: Google AdSense
To: boober86@gmail.com
Cc: Google AdSense
Date: Mar 30, 2006 8:37 AM
Subject: Google AdSense Account Status

Hello Andrew,

It has come to our attention that invalid clicks have been generated on
the Google ads on your site(s).

As a reminder, any method of generating invalid clicks is strictly
prohibited. Invalid clicks include but are not limited to any clicks
that are generated through the use of robots, automated clicking tools,
manual clicks by a publisher on the publisher's own web pages, or a
publisher encouraging others to click on his ads.

If you are clicking on the ads on your web pages for testing purposes,
please note that clicking on your own ads or encouraging others to do
so for any reason is prohibited, due to the potential for inflation of
advertiser costs. Please be assured that there is no need to test the
ads on your site, as our specialists review all of our ads to ensure
that they meet Google's advertising standards.

If you would like to visit the destination of an ad to view its content
or to add it to your filter list, you can use the AdSense Preview Tool,
available here:

https://www.google.com/adsense/previewtool?hl=en_US

The Google AdSense preview tool is an addition to the right-click menu
for Windows Internet Explorer 6.x, allowing you to preview the ads that
may show on any web page. Clicks and impressions from the preview tool
are not applied to the advertiser's account. You can click through to
the target site without worrying about invalid clicks being generated
on your account, and without costing the advertiser for your test
clicks.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reply to this email. We
will be happy to help in any way we can.

Sincerely,

The Google Team

Ok... I am not "paying" anyone to click on ads. If I seriously was "paying" for clicks, I would be making tens of thousands of dollars. I had one month that I made some good money; that is all. I have to send them an email and explain that I have done nothing. I am thinking it is an error on there end. No biggie. We will get the situation taken of today.
